Sleep Apnea is becoming more and more common all across America and it occurs when while sleeping the airway becomes blocked causing the person who is affected by it to have trouble breathing while they sleep so much so that they’re breathing briefly and periodically stops throughout the night. Also, because this occurs overtime sleep apnea can lead to other serious health problems due to the lack oxygen traveling to your brain when your breathing stops. To better understand sleep apnea, it’s important to be aware of the sleep apnea symptoms.
Symptoms of Sleep Apnea
If you feel as though you may be developing sleep apnea it’s important to understand the different symptoms you should look out for. Below are the common signs of sleep apnea:
- Consistent and loud snoring
- Difficulty falling or staying asleep
- Waking up and gasping for air
- Excessive sleepiness during the day
- Waking up with a headache
Since sleep apnea occurs when you are asleep it may easier for your partner to detect it while you are sleeping. If either you are your partner notice any of these symptoms, then it is very
likely that you may be suffering from sleep apnea. The next step would be to seek treatment.
